One of my other Christmas presents in progress!
I could not resist this plane kit for $50.00

So on with the build, It was set up for a stick mount gear box....POO POO on that! Brush less out runner all the way!
Using a Headsup RC Power up 480 class 1000kv equivalent in power to .20 to .25 two stroke glow engine. With 10x7E prop and 40 amp esc.
Had to make a flat mount for the motor and bought a spacer kit.

- mount epoxy in

The kit is made with EPO foam and some what vague chinglish instructions but not to bad all in all.
The plane has a 42.5 inch (1080 mm) wing span
I don't want to bore you all with hinge marking and placement and gluing parts together but here are a few views of the components.

So with all the major parts fit, it is time for paint!
Need a pilot! I gotta blame the crash on some jerk!
Oh here he is!

- The pilot

He just got back from a short stint in a F-86 Sabre...... He faired better than the plane!
Need to change his suit, looks to military for this job!

Now that is more like it!

More to come!
I am really suffering cabin fever I have had 0 zero zip zilch nada flight weather! I am buggin!
I am freaking painting little green men!

I am painting the plane with acrylic enamel craft paint, all with brushes and free hand, exception being the cowling. I painted it with krylon fussion for plastics, on the inside.

I did a little paint to make a fake dash panel.

The plane comes with 3 sheets of decals but that is boring, so I looked at a lot of pattern ship paint jobs and decided to go with the bold designs that they have on them with my own spin on them!

So far I am pleased, still have to do the underside of the main wing and the horizontal stabilizer.
I am thinking a rising sun pattern on the under side with yellow and black. We'll see!

Tony, yes $50 .00 for the plane kit and around $60 for motor and esc and other bits of kit and shipping. I just checked my total order was $112.00.
Crazy thing is that Headsup RC had the original Formosa on sale last week for 29.95 it is smaller 35.5 inch wing span and only had 2 in stock so I bought one heck at that price I can't say no!

Going to take more than that! The nose doesn't look bad in the picture at the end of the video but it is crushed like an egg shell! The motor shaft is bent, wing mount gone. I am mulling this thing over, repair or trash it hummmmmm...!

Down to cost I would say, whichever is the cheapest to do....
