FPV antenna questions

Hello all. I have two questions when it comes to FPV antennas. I'm not sure if I'm saying this right but Will a 3 leaf antenna like this one
http://www.gearbest.com/multi-rotor-par ... 67816.html "I took the cover off" or a 4 leaf antenna like this one
http://graysonhobby.com/aomway-antenna- ... p-red.html works better with a 25mW/600mW + 800TVL camera and this goggle
http://graysonhobby.com/eachine-vrd2-v2 ... rsity.html:?: The second question is cover or no cover on the antenna. The half shell to hide the antenna. I'm not sure if I presented these question the proper way

Its a preference thing:) The cover stops bending or breaking during crashes:) Patch antennas work well in combination with cloverleaf:) However they generally need to point towards the quad and dont work so well if you fly behind them:)

Another silly question about FPV antenna. I'm in the market to purchase back up antennas for my goggles and quad. On the patch antenna side, what's the difference in a 6dbi patch and a circular polarize patch antennaV1? I would also like to get a matching TX/RX antenna for my quad and goggles for back up also. Can anyone recommend a decent combination or should I just get the same antennas that came with my goggles and quad? I appreciate your input please

Goggles are Eachine VRD2 and my quad is the Shuriken 180Pro which a member, Mr. Derek, was so kind to help me set it up the other day.

Hey all. When it comes to gain on the DBi for FPV antenna does that work the same way as the patch antenna DBi works? What I'm trying to say that this antenna has the gain 2DBic
https://www.helidirect.com/lumenier-pag ... medium=CPC and the Foxeer has the gain 3DBi
https://www.helidirect.com/foxeer-new-a ... medium=CPC now does that mean the foxeer picks up a little better then the Lumenier? and this antenna
https://www.helidirect.com/emax-pagoda- ... medium=CPC I couldn't find the DBi on it

The reason I'm asking because I do a lot of woods cruzing with my quad, I have the tendency to clip a branch or 2 on the way

and I'm looking for back up. Right now I have the Lumenier-Pagoda2-5.8 on both my quads and one on the goggles with a 3 turn helical antenna. Should I buy the same antenna, Try Emax pagoda2 5.8 because they are a little shorter and have a case cover for antenna. Good for the woods or the Foxeer because DBI is a little higher. Sorry about the silly question but before I buy I would like to ask the members first for their opinion. Which is absolutely appreciated

The emax will likely have a similar specs as the lumenier, they are both the same style of antenna (pagoda type).
I'm not sure you'll really benefit at all compared to a cloverleaf or other circular polarized, omni-directional type of antenna though. The main benefit to this type of antenna appears to be greater out-of-polarization rejection. A cloverleaf RHCP will pick up more bleed through from a nearby (in frequency) LHCP than this pagoda type of antenna. So if you were flying with others, using a mix of LHCP and RHCP and frequency spread to keep out of each others goggles, this kind of antenna setup would help you. But flying alone, woods or not, I don't think this will be an better or worse than more traditional types of circular polarized, omni antennas.

Thank you Paul for that information. Since I have a collection of antennas now, I'm going switch them out and see the result. I also had a problem developed while flying. Can this be fixed?

I'm sorry I don't know if it can be or not. I've never actually seen one of these in person so I'm not sure how they're constructed. If it's a solder to a trace on a board then you may be able to. Or a bolt on or something like that. Hopefully someone here knows or you can find a video or posting somehwere that shows how you can repair it.

those are made with the gaps being very significant so I would say no that's a gonna sorry mate.

Thank you guys for letting me know. I didn't think so but I wanted to make sure before I through it away. I've ordered new one's. I'm going to try out this next
https://www.helidirect.com/foxeer-new-a ... medium=CPC Thanks again for everyone advice. I'm sure I'll have plenty more to ask

I want to say thanks to Paul and the other members for their opinion and help with my combination of antenna for the quads and my goggles. I ended up with The Helical 3 turn antenna and the 5.8 Lumenier pagoda2 for the goggles and the Shuriken 180 pro, Left, also has the pogada2 antenna and the 180, Right, has the new 5.8 Foxeer circular polarize omni antenna. This seems to work for me

Thanks again
