Matching or not matching?
Hey all. For my FPV antennas I have the TBS and I have the Pagoda antennas. I want to know if it makes any difference if I have one brand like the TBS on my goggles and the other brand like pagoda on my quad or visa versa VS matching brand like the pagoda on my goggles and on my quad? Will that make any differences in reception? Hope that makes sense

Re: Matching or not matching?
Nope...the brand name won't make any difference at all. The polarization is what's going to make a difference, i.e. right hand circular polarized and left hand circular polarized. Yes, you can use a LHCP antenna on either your goggles or your quad and then have a RHCP antenna on the other but your range is going to be very limited. Just be sure to use RHCP on one and RHCP on the other or use LHCP on one and LHCP on the other and you will be in good shape.
Just so that you know, on my Gravity 250, I typically use an ImmersionRC Spironet RHCP antenna on the quad and then I use a VAS Helical antenna on my goggles. I like that setup because I've noticed that the range is slightly further than if I use Spironet antennas on both and the Gravity 250 is just great for me to just cruise around. If I'm racing, then I use my Shuriken 180 with a Spironet antenna on both because the range isn't very important and the Spironets are quite lightweight.

Re: Matching or not matching?
Thanks guys
Now I don't have to buy any more antennas. I have plenty of antennas as it is already

Re: Matching or not matching?
Not just polarisation makes a difference but linear and cp makes a difference as well,
I run all linear antenna on the goggles if I run linear on a quad (micro size) and this give great results,

Hey KevG. This is what I have going on. On both my quads I have the pagoda 2 5.8 antenna on them. For the goggles which is diversity, I'm using the pagoda 2 5.8 antenna also but with the TrueRc 5.8 X-Air for the second antenna. It seem to work fine but not great result.

Re: Matching or not matching?
they are good antenna, the patch will need to be facing the craft for it to get its best performance so bear that in mind, and trees and buildings greatly reduce signal clarity.

Hey KevG you mention 5.8 don't have good penetration. Trees and buildings greatly reduce signal clarity. Now I'm confuse again
The reason I purchases the TrueRc X-Air 5.8GHz because they said," Wide coverage and high axial ratio make it perfect for proximity flying, by keeping signal behind bushes and trees."

Re: Matching or not matching?
Dude they push the truth, if you are using lower MW then penetration is not the best, higher MW is more heat need better airflow, whatever people say unless your using something like the clearview system then penetration and range on 5.8g will be sketchy.
trees and buildings and metal structures and the such also contribute to multipathing which reduces signal quality.

Thank you KevG. I agree with you about stretching the truth. Anything to make a buck. For Mw, my 180 is running on 600Mw and the 210 is running 800Mw and so far with the set up I have and where I fly, I'm happy enough to fly around. I imagine once I get to an open field like the park, it will be alot better
