Christmas gift fun!

So I was lucky enough to get a new 180CFX from my wonderful in-law parents (with a bit of help from my lovely wife ;) ). I haven't started a flight log thread for myself yet, so wanted to put this up in a standalone for the moment since it is a new heli on the market and I think Gaba is the only other that's posted a view of one in action so far here.

Yep, worked fine for me! Nice bit of flying. I got the opportunity to fly my friends 180 yesterday. It's a pretty nice helicopter but I think the 450's are the smallest I'll go. I do have an MCPX that was given to me and it needs some parts replaced but I'm just not in a hurry to repair it.

Anyway...it looks like you enjoyed your new helicopter. Very cool!!

Well. It was greta while it lasted. Just took it for a flight. Doing some gyro tuning. Was doing a piro and did a reversal and it went all Dunkan Bossion on me: http://youtu.be/O18xkNWPGhA?t=30s

Uncontrolled, full tilt piro. The canopy got loose or something because the mains ended up eating it (confetti raining down). TH and let it fall to the ground (about 15ft up at the time).

Blade grip arm is toast, which means new blade grip. Blade links are no where to be found. There is a tooth missing on the main gear, but I'm guessing it will fly fine still. Servos seem to have survived. Nothing wrong with the tail as far as I can tell. I'll have to take the blades off to do a spin up test to be sure.

I'm guessing the tail end points are set a little too long and the reversal I did ended up causing it to jam up the tail slider/control arms. Will need to find out if there are instructions on how to adjust that setting.

Man you cant catch a break with the micros. Looks like you'll need to stick with the 450 class and bigger. That sucks, hopefully it wont be a huge dent in the wallet to fix.

Lol.. Confetti.. Lol.. Wow... So the canopy caused the crash?

No. I'm not entirely sure what happened. It started piroing uncontrolled. Then the canopy shredded. The blade links were gone when I picked it up and one blade holder arm was broken off. I hit th when it started piroing so I'm thinking it may have been the arm that broke in mid flight, causing a blade to flip, which caused it to pilo. That or the tail locked up, the arm broke due to the strain of the piro compensation in an uncontrolled piro. The canopy shredded do to the blade weight bullets snagging it and ripping it off the heli.

I checked the tail and it doesn't seem possible for it to jam/lock due to hyper extension. I checked the servo and it isn't stripped or malfunctioning.

Weird... I'd like to have a go with one... Everyone seems to like them... Still need to fix my 130... Maybe I should and sell it to help fund a 180.
