Kool... I think I am gonna get this kit... My PRO DFC was my first true build.. And until recently I baby'd it... Now I am using it to train with as I used to w my 130x... Which didn't do well at all.. To being that most parts are interchangeable... And given that I had thought about stretching my current 450(which would mean converting to 6s)... I think I'm better off to take this route.. Even tho I'd like to have a 180x.. I don't think it would be as good a situation as keeping the 450 as my trainer and having a second 450 to baby.. What does suck is I'm almost ready to start a different build so im tied up for a couple more weeks on that one financially. It'll happen tho!

I would be finding something else to do with those servo arms at those angles its going to pop a link off
Take a picture of the link with out the mic in the way and the servo 90

With the longer ball links there is a better angle but I can't get 12 degrees collective out of it without binding.

And here you can see it bind with the longer ball link

Well with Align wanting 12.5 arms the only time the swash link is strait to the main shaft is when the server is at 90
Looks like a bad design to me .
If it were mine I would be putting longer arms on it then shorten the links to bring the swash down some and lengthen the links to blade grips so the servo dose not have to move as far Just my 2 cents

Use the shorter balls. Slight off axis on the links isn't going to matter that much.

Couldn't agree more. I am so tired of the screwy things align does. These servo arms are the arms that strip on impact supposedly saving your servo gears. They are hitec 65 mg servo arms. I'd need to look around and see if I can find something longer. I'd likely loose the special feature of these arms though.

Yea that is what I decided to do. We will see if the link pops off. hopefully it stays on their.

I guess I don't follow. If you are pulling in a linear direction and you lengthen the dfc arms and shorten the servo links. That should just change the swash position on the main shaft. The distance the servo has to travel to get to the same pitch should remain the same.

It will make the blade travel the same but the swash travel shorter

The 430mg servos have a slight shamffer on the upper case so that might be enough to give the extra clearance,

Looks like it's designed with their gear in mind!

I wouldn't put it past Align to make a complete proprietary kit. Talk about sucking a customer into their kits.

Yea its totally lame.....I keep telling myself to not buy any more Align products. I always come across decent deals on used stuff though. I think the trex 500L will be my last Align for real this time :D

Are you running Align servos? I can't stand Align servos they are money pits. Every Align servo I had would maybe last 2 crashes then burn out. And gears would strip if you looked at them funny. My TGY-306G servos have been through multiple crashes and are still going. I've had to replace a couple gears but no where near the quantity that I had to with Align servos.

Clay has a 450 Pro not a 450l
My Aling servos have been on my 550 for 2 years now and been in a few crashes havent had any trouble out of them
I think the mico servos are the main problem with Aling
For mico servos i like the KST 215s I put a set in my warp and it flew much better than with the Aling 415s

Yea the dfc pro has no such problems with the cyclic. I guess I am weird in that I kinda liked my dfc pro better.

I have heard the same thing with the larger Align servos. I have them on my 550 and on my 700 and I admit I have had no problems with them but I also have not crashed those helis yet either. I don't like the align servos where they are just supported by one bearing on the potentiometer. The turnigy/KST/MKS are supported by dual bearings top and bottom. Seems like a more robust design to me.

I had the 130x it is a decent heli taught me a LOT! I outgrew that heli. I recently bought a 180cfx and returned it the same day. It's a decent heli but I think I am done with micros. I didn't really like how it flew it felt twitchy reminded me of a trex 250. It's a nice heli for sure just not for me. Plus the one I bought the canopy came undone at the seam and and the tail would twitch. Supposedly this is now fixed with a software update but I had enough at that point and just returned it.

I also have a 300x which is no longer a blade heli. It's decent for training but doesn't get much use anymore. I mostly fly my trex 450 these days it has a similar power to weight ratio as the rest of my helis and I can stick a KDE in it.

Align 615/655 on my TRex700. I've crashed it a few times and have had to replace two sets of gears. There is an intermediate shaft in there that always bends on me along with some teeth chipping off a gear or two. But that's only been on the two big crashes I had with it. The one light crash had no servo gear issues. And the big crashes were only one servo each. That said, I've put the 550X in more often and have only had to replace one gear set (usually breaks servo horns first). And the BK servos on the Gob 500 have not needed any gear replacement yet despite some heavy crashes (servo horns have always broken off, as intended).

The TRex has metal horns and CF connecting links so more often than not a big crash results in a servo getting a lot of force applied to it, and a bent ail/ele shaft.

Servos... On the 450 I wil say they were crap.. Mine is a v3 pro dfc... The stock servos got twitchy with no input.. Prior to its first crash I had replaced to servos to this... Once I did crash her for the first time I put MKS 92a+ on the cyclic and a 95i on the tail.. So yeah.. Crappy servos on the 450 yes.. Now the align servos on my 550 have been great... No issues at all.. And the new HV Aligns seem pretty good too.. However.. I do love my MKS.. And I am putting them on my next build... 960 cyclic and 990 for the tail, 9780 for the throttle... & I can't wait!
