I am still in shock that I have 3 new servos, a heli thats almost setup and ready for a maiden. Weather here is just down right cold and snowing. Sim time i guess, hit rchn ppp.
Setting up the radio was not to bad. I had to reset the program back to srock settings. My last setting were from the ZYX-S which will not work for the HB800. With that done I had to mess with servo direction and this was not fun. I had to remember how to change the servo directions which I finally figured out. One thing that stumped me was the elevator was not reversed but was operating backwards so I fixed that by reversing the servo. After about 20 minutes I finally got the servos moving in the right directions.
Anyhow the reason for the post. All is can say about the servos as of right now is "holy smooth as a baby's bottom Batman!" Yes these servos are really smooth when you turn the output shaft. The servo horns from my Savox are a no go. I also noticed that the servos will spin in a full 360 degree circle. The finish on them is almost perfect and they do not look or feel cheap.
On to the setup: I got the servos centered while using a business card. The card gave me a 90 degree line to line up the ball link holes to ensure they are 90. Next I installed all the reset linkages. I reset them to spec according to the manual. Put the X3 on the leveling platform I made and proceeded to level the main shaft first. I don't have a Soko but any digital pitch gauge can be use to achieve the same results as a Soko if you know what your doing. I got the main shaft vertical at -43.3 degrees all around then checked it by checking 8 points around the full rotation.
********When using the Soko method all measurements are based on absolute angle and not relative. ***************
Leveling the swash with the HB800 is somewhat tricking using the Soko way. While on menu G I rotated the head according to the Soko method and made very small adjustments to get the pitch gauge back to zero. I am going to need to go back and redo this step and make sure things are still good. Went and did the Aileron setup and for got to do the elevator so I also have to do that also.
Thats just a brief update as to what I did today.
