Align Trex 450 Pro V2

When i flew my 450 it was acting strange as if the gears were not in mesh correctly. I was only hovering a couple of feet off the ground, and on my second hover it dropped quite quick. I landed checked it over and could see nothing.

This heli is normally rock solid since i got the AR7200BX on it. I have had this heli for over two years now. I stripped it today removing the battery cover and esc to check the gears were in mesh, which they were.

The xt60 connector shrink wrap looked cut, so i removed the positive side. This was soldered by me in my early days of rc-helicopters. To my horror both joints have gone dry.

I saw this happen with a buddy's brand new 700 Dominator about a month or so ago... He was inveted just a few feet off the ground... Solder joint failed and the power was instantly gone.. He was able to quickly roll & auto to safety.. Those situations are scary.. To make it worse.. When these things happen it pisses u off even more because it's not like u dumb thumbed it or anything.. Equipment failure like this just makes me mad! But.. 2 years worth of tug' non those cables.. Suppose we should all check for this from time to time.. Glad u were able to get her down without causing damage... Good save bud!

it was my early days in rc Tony and the 450 has had over 100 flights:)

I had the same problem with my 450. After it happens and you check out the heli and you really can't notice if anything is wrong with the solder is not making contact because "In my situation" the electrical tape that covers the connectors, your on able to see or feel anything wrong til you take the tape off and then the wire falls off the connector. Imagine all the pulling you do on your connectors every time you charge your batteries or unplugging the battery from the heli. Even if you are very careful in disconnecting your connector, after a period of time being yank on all the time, you would would fall apart also. Once i found out what was wrong, i checked every batteries to make sure this doesn't happen again to any other batteries. !2 batteries later, done. Ready to fly again til the next mishap.Lol

Due to weather i took a look at my 450 as the last time it was out i had a problem with it:)

Checked it over and at the rudder plug the signal wire had a nic in it revealing bare wire:( Using my HK crimper, i made off all 3 ends and fitted a new plug:) Now where is the dry weather????:(

Sounds like you caught a potential disaster there Graham... Preflight certainly pays off...
