TRex 450 PRO DFC Rev 2

Post by ken jackson »

Still fine tuning her but getting close. Built this last winter. Had dozens of flights. Didn't really crash it, I let the battery run down too low and it fell onto a cement sidewalk from about 4 feet. Very little damage to the helicopter but lost all three cyclic servos. I was so upset that it has been sitting since April. I finally had a little extra cash and but the servos, new skids and how about those blades....

Been so long I had to get my 3GX manual out to remember the set up steps, LOL.

The blades are solid orange on the bottom. Can't wait to see them in the air...

I had the green and white version of those blades on both of my Helis. The only thing I did not like was there not being a cutout for the blade grips. I could not fold them back all the way, other than that I liked the wide cord of those blades. Looks really visible with that color scheme.

I fly the wide cord Mavrik blades on my 500 and was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. Was not expecting that and I think I'll like it on the 450 just as much. They have a good feel, I think a little softer.

Interesting about the folding back comment, mine fold back enough for a blade holder to grab them? Is that a Gaui or Protos thing that the blades hit?

Must be! The blade grips did not allow the blade to fold enough to use the blade holder. They went back as far as 90° to the head and that was it. I didn't want to force anything so I took it as it was. Plus at $24 a pop I deceided on using the stock Gaui brand for now. I also have a set of Rails 326mm that are way nice in the air. Trying to save those for a show off day.

Wide cord blades will add disk mass which helps with lift. So if tour looking for a lighter disk load and don't want to go longer, you add cord width.

Will adding chord width put extra load on the motor URI? Sounds like what I need!

Minimal at most. On a 450 running 325mm blades the cord is not going to factor that much. My 3S setup with scorpion HK 2221-8 and 45 amp Scorpion Commander ESC did just fine.

That's interesting URI, might look for some blades with this added chord width for my 450

One thing you'll need to understand is how disk loading works and what it means to you the pilot. In nut shell the lighter the loading the more floaty the heli will be; its best suited fro big air and smooth 3D, the heavier disk loading the more snappy and quick the heli is, ideal for smack 3D or Box flying 3D it also autos better than lighter disk loading.

Ha Ha! I get it now. The blades don't fold in far enough to use the blade holder. I thought I had already checked that.

Ha Ha, how stupid KBDD is.
