Synergy E7SE Makeover In Progress

It's late.. But.. All Spektrum gear has been removed from E7SE... iKon as well. Actually pulled if off a while back.. It was part of the gear I sold off the other week & the iKon unit I put on my Chase 360. I'll be replacing this gear with a Futaba 7008SB RX and the Futaba CGY750 FBL unit. I have also pulled the KDE 505kv out also. I'll be putting it in a future build. It has been replaced with a KDE 535kv. Got the motor shaft cut so it doesn't stick out the lower bearing block... Mesh set and all Loctited in. Tomorrow night I'll be installing the Futaba gear & wiring it all up. I did pull out the Castle Link cable and replaced it with a Castle Link 2 cable. This new product will feed all the log info into the 18SZ's telemetry display... So I never need to plug the Edge160 in at all except to change settings.. Down side is I'm still waiting on the Futaba update for this to function. The 18SZ's programming is apparently a lot different from previous TXs.. So they are having to write that code different for the 18SZ.... I'll post pics later.. Bedtime.

Futaba FBL unit. Interesting. I've only worked with their tail gyros before. How do you like them?

They have been out for a while now. They never really gained traction, maybe due to lack of advertising. I considered getting one a few years ago because I wanted a Futaba radio. I heard they had some integration with the radios.

Pretty huge here... Most of the Synergy team I've notice use them.. Nick of course.. But.. It does seem in the background for some reason.. And yes.. After trying it.. And seeing it's integration functionality.. It's the reason I went with Futaba.. Plus the feel.. Anyhow.. Futaba CGY750, 7008SB, Castle Link2 all installed & cleaned up.. KDE 505kv has been pulled for the 766 build to come.. 535kv replaced it. Programming tomorrow.

I know a number of people that use or have used their transmitters, just not a lot on the Rx/FBL side of things. Not sure why.

Ok... Today I maidened the E7SE with its new set up... Fantastic!
1) The KDE 535kv motor rocks! It's lighter than the 505kv I pulled out of her and still has just as much power & torque. Just strong as hell! Love KDE!
2) The Castle Link2 sent all telemetry data to the 18SZ as it should have.. No need for all those sensors.. The Castle does it all! Very happy with that!
3) Futaba... I've got it double here.. 18SZ TX & CGY750 FBL. Coming off Spektrum I can tell u it definitely has a more connected feel.. The response to stick input is much faster & more crisp. Now.. This was very scary at first.. I have been flying the Chase with this radio.. But this was the first flights on the big bird with it.. Taking a little to get used to as 4yrs of muscle memory on the Spektrum feel.... It's just taking time to get used to.. But definitely prefer the feel of the Futaba radio. Now onto the CGY750... OMG! Dude.. Its fabulous! I tuned it per instruction via Nick Maxwell's new video set up(the firmware just changed to V2.0 & it's like a completely different unit than it used to be)... Took Levar's gain settings as a starting point.. And they were spot on! No drift.. No occultations.. No bounce back... No bobble.. Piros flat.. COMPLETELY LOCKED IN! I can adjust all gains via the TX... No computer needed.. It AWESOME! I have had great luck with my iKon units on everything except the E7SE.. It just never felt good.. The CGY750 feels soooo good. I'll be pulling the IKons off the 550 & N5C this week... Highly recommend Futaba radios & the CGY750..
