There is a cool story behind this helicopter. I'll share the story when I get a chance to start a new thread on the build.

ok ok ok....you guys are as impatient as my 15 month old daughter, lol.

Now....before I reveal the brand, I want you to understand that there is a story behind this helicopter. Some of you may be hesitant and some may be disappointed. In all honesty, I am super stoked about this helicopter because of the story and the meaning behind this helicopter.

The helicopter is an HK Assault 700 DFC kit (that's why I used the green, lol). I'm sure someone just clicked away from this page because it's another HK product. The fact of the matter is that I have a Youtube buddy that bought the kit last year. It sat around his house collecting dust. He's very much gotten into the mini quad action and he's doing very very well with them. He decided to pass the helicopter on to someone that would build it properly and fly it safely. I was blown away when he asked me if I wanted it....free. He wouldn't even let me pay for shipping. I have no words. My Trex 600 Pro DFC was given to me by a Youtube buddy, a bit over a year ago. Now, I'm being given a 700 DFC kit.

I had the helicopter shipped to my Dad's house because I wasn't sure if I was going to have to work today. Fortunately, I do not have to work today so I will be heading to my Dad's house very soon to collect my new addition. As stated above, yes, this is an HK product. I will not be taking this helicopter lightly. Everything will be taken apart, inspected, and rebuild with care and attention to detail. If I have any doubt about any part, it will simply be replaced.

As for electronics, I can say that I'm planning on a Scorpion motor, Castle 160HV esc, and Ikon flybarless. I'm undecided on servos but I'll top it all off with Zeal main and tail blades.

I won't be able to actually start the building process on this helicopter until I get a few other projects finished up, so I'll start a new thread on the Assault 700 when the time is right. If you'd like, I can and will post pics of the helicopter when I get it back home.

That's cool Derek, I know how careful and methodical you are with your other builds so safety wont be an issue.
Its not like your putting budget electronics in it.
The main this is you got a 700 and it was FREE! Wow, hope you enjoy!

about time Derek you spilt the beans.... sounds very nice, any 700 would be fantastic. and as Cam said, your a methodical guy and putting good electronics on her... i know the bird wont see daylight never mind flight until your absolutely certain its 100% fit for purpose and safe to fly..

I nearly bought an Assault 700 when they first came out, too...but I was hesitant. On the other hand...after HK made some mod's to the tail pitch slider and upgraded the swash plate, this helicopter is suppose to be quite good. I have two Youtube buddies that have the Assault 700. One of them has all HK parts on it and the other friend has higher dollar parts on it. Both are awesome in the air. I'm sure mine will, too!

On the other hand....I'm sure that Paul will cringe a bit when he reads this thread, lol. I surely don't mean any offense to Paul but he's just not an HK fan like I am. I have looked over the frame and parts and first impressions look promising.

Wow stepping up to the big leagues. Your first 700 man that price tag still hurts my wallet regardless. have fun and enjoy the sounds of a big bird.

It's going to be a while before I can start the build. I've got so much else going on in the garage right now, lol. But....I'll start a thread for the Assault 700 and all details will be posted there as I progress.
