Hard Drive Horror:(

I had a hard drive fail on me, so replaced it, only to do a repair when i sussed out that the arms had stuck on the disk:)
Got Windows 10 back running and all my data to my relief:)
Then i uploaded Windows 10 onto an external hard drive thinking i would save everything:(
To my horror windows 10 partitioned my drive and i have possibly lost everything apart from Windows 10 boot partition.
Trying to recover the partition by down loading a program i saw on Youtube. Hope it works, i have 25years of info stored:(
