Today Britain (UK) pulled out of Afghanistan.

A political stunt before the elections in the UK.

I have lost friends, who have become pawns in the political game.

Mark my words, after the election, irrespective who gains power, their will be an increase in the wars. It is all rubbish:) Rant over:)

Sorry for this guys but......so angry that human life is used in a futile war:(

I agree it has become futile. The initial purpose, at least for the US, was clear and valid. Retaliation for 9/11. Degrade AQ and the Taliban to within an inch of its life and get OBM and the AQ leadership. But then we got it in our heads that the place could somehow be fixed and that a more stable Afghanistan would keep it from becoming a haven to a reconstituted AQ or a new OBL. Short of outright colonization, I'm not sure how that was ever going to work. Should have kept the mission short and on target and then gotten the hell out. Keep intelligence assets and a embassy in place. Monitor and attack when/if some group gets in their head to make a move again.

Strange thing is the Afghani leadership does not want the US to leave as if yet. They know that if we do then things would get worse for them.

My last active unit was supposed to close up shop there but that plan has changed. From my understanding we just got extended. Not sure his true that is but that's what I have been hearing from reliable sources.

Yeah, that's another problem. Admins in these governments talking out one side saying they hate hate hate us and want us to leave yesterday, and then out the other side of the mouth wanting us to stay on in order to keep order for them, like we're some kind of mercenary army for their continued well being. And yet we keep saying we'll stay. It's long since time to get out and let them fend for themselves.

I feel the same way. Eventually they will learn as we did over 200 years ago.
