Good reason to NOT charge batteries from your vehicle

I just saw this on Facebook. I've never, not once, used my truck battery to run my charger to charge my batteries. In this instance, the person didnt use a lipo-safe bag. Lipo-safe bag or not, I just have no interest in charging from my vehicles.

Hmmm, I do this all the time, but always monitored.
I have a 2 battery setup in my truck running about 1200 CCA.
The truck does not even notice the losses.
I do however charge them on the ground outside the truck.

Some careless thought there I think, when we go away in camper I always charge lipos in that, never had any issues at all. Solar panels charge them at up to 12 amp.... Mind you I wouldn't leave them at all...

I've seen people charge their batteries like this and I don't really have a problem with other people doing this....but I'd like to see them have their batteries on the ground, in lipo safe bags, and keep an eye on them. I've seen a lot of dangerous results on Youtube and I hope to never have a dangerous situation of my own. I won't use my truck battery for charging. I am sure its safe. Manufacturers make our chargers capable of doing so, I just choose not to, lol.
Just be aware and be careful, everyone!

Yep! I dont really have a reason to need a generator. I'm not usually at the flying field long enough to require one. I just charge my packs up at home and after a flight, I move on to another model with a fresh pack. Maybe a generator someday.

Yes lipo bags help some, the main intent on the bag is buy you some time just in case stuff happens. Even a lipo bag will burn at some point. Would it have stopped this from happening maybe / maybe not. The bag would have however given him some extra time to stop or reduce the effect of him burning his truck like this.
Some gene pools need a little chlorine.
I am hoping this guy didn't know any better and not him ignoring safety. I don't think he will be able to claim this on his insurance due to not using the battery for what it was intended on being used for. If I do a battery setup I am going to have it so it can be moved out of the van and clear of it. Something about 24v at what ever amps sitting just above a plastic gas tank does not appeal to me.

Yeah. If I were doing a charge off a car battery I'd at least use some jumper cables or something to get the rig away from the vehicle and onto a table or something safe to charge on.
