What did I do today

Well today I went to see Dan, had a great day flying, Dan really knows his stuff like. I tried fpv but failed miserably. God I'm hopeless, it's going to take a long long time for this old brain to get the hang of fpv...
Anyway, it was awesome watching Dan flying, such a master at it...I had a go of his quad flying Los, what a bird. So responsive, light, agile.. Unbelievable.. And it's so so quiet, you can hardly hear the motors. And no I didn't crash it....

... Dan did, but I'm not saying out... Haha
Dan gave me a Naze board to try as he recons this cc3d could be faulty as it keeps drifting, even after he made some adjustments, so I'll try that later... He also gave me his SJ400 cam, although it needs fixing as it doesn't record...
Anyway, had a great day Dan, thanks for the stuff you gave me and the cups of tea... When I get some practice in in acro mode I'll definately go back down again mate..
And yes I just remembered, Dan gave me a set of his props to try, not sure what they are like..
So I've seen Dan and Lee, who's next.... Lmao

Dan you love whacking those little tree branches don't you. 1:56
Tony, forget about acro until you are comfortable with FPV, make sure self level is working properly and take advantage of it.
Or even get a cheap RC off roader of some sort and mount your FPV gear on that.
That will get you used to the FPV gear without the risk of losing or crashing your quad.
You can obviously fly the quad so if you get used to the goggles you can put the 2 together later.

Thanks Stambo, I'm going to try this Naze board today with CF and see if it's more stable. Take the leds off to reduce some weight.(not that they weigh much)... Do some LOS flying in acro mode to get used to how much differently the quad flies... Then just practice take offs and landings in stable mode first.. The quad wouldn't just take off yesterday without touching cyclic to keep it level and that was in stable mode... So first job, change the board...

i think tony is struggling with the goggles as much as the quad itself. because he wears glasses i would recommend getting a set of these
http://www.unmannedtechshop.co.uk/fatsh ... -lens-set/ they are used too correct the goggles for glasses wearers, I know these are fatshark ones but ive done some research and they fit in skyzone goggles aswell.

well Lee, i was a LOT worse than i was with you, at least i got it in the air with you, and Dan was extremely patient and knowledgeable in trying to teach me.. it just kept toppling over as soon as i got it off the ground...i just couldnt get the sticks right.... think it was a moment of brain dead scenario...lol... but i wont give in...

Seems as tho I'd be easier.... With FPV u no longer have to orientate all the time the same way u do with a LOS flight... Just think of urself as being on the bird! Had a skate buddy I grew up with over for dinner last night & he's got the RC bugs crawling all over him..I was letting him fly my nano quad.. He doing great tail in... struggled w orientation until I told him to stop fly'n from where he was standing and put himself in the bird... Once he thought of it that way he was zing'n all round.. It's so much fun to see someone "click"/"get it"... So yeah.. Iv helped create another crackhead.. Practice makes perfect!

I got some of those when I bought my goggles, I need glasses for reading so I thought I might need them.
I tried them and made it worse so I don't use them.

thanks Clay, flying LOS i dont have a problem now, used to mind...lol, soon as i put those goggles on though things go ape-shit...lol. i just dont seem to be able to get the hang of the tunnel vision, dont know how high i am or anything... yeah, practice makes perfect. and i wont give up...
ill order them lenses and give them a go, cant harm. i wear varifocals so need glasses for long and short range... they might work...
