Today's wind has simply kept me inside

I tell ya...I was working last Thursday through Sunday...my usual 12 hour shifts, from 6pm-6am. All four of those days weren't "perfect" days but all four of those days were very flyable days...but, as I mentioned, I was working those days. Then I get yesterday and today off work and the sun has been coming and going, playing "peek-a-boo" behind the clouds. The temperatures have been in the 50's and 60's. Pretty decent days, all in all, except for the 25mph winds that have been gusting to 40mph. I probably could have taken a paper airplane outside and given it a toss and it would have landed at Graham's doorstep within 10 minutes. Now, I have to work the next two nights and I should be off Friday-Sunday. Friday looks to be possibly flyable. Rain and more wind on Saturday and then hopefully a flyable Sunday.
Ok...I'm done whining and complaining. I'm just really jealous that many of you guys are out flying and I'm stuck indoors.

Yeah, schedule and weather haven't been cooperating much for me either. Hopefully things will change starting this weekend or next week.

I was out for about 10 minutes, just long enough to see of the Gaui would tip. The wind was not to bad, flyable if you dont mind pucker flights. I didnt even get high enough for the wind to affect me. Seems to be flying okay so will see what tomorrow holds.
In general the wind has been moving at a good clip these last few days.

I keep forgetting that you are in Ohio, Matthias! I'm glad you got out for a few minutes. Maybe I was just being "chicken", lol. I'm not fond of "pucker moments", lol.

Once you get confident with that mini flying FPV, wind woes will be a thing of the past.
I don't care what the wind is doing, if I want to fly, I just do.

I must admit it's much nicer without it but if I am determined to fly it won't stop me.
In fact I am off home from work in about 10 minutes, I may just run a battery or 2.

I've heard a lot of stories from other quad fly'ers about flying in the wind. They don't let the wind stop them either. I'm just waiting for a day that is 15mph or less because I want to be able to mess with the settings. Once I get the settings dialed in...I may just be flooding Youtube and the Hangout with flight videos, lol. All this waiting is killing me but I believe in waiting for calmer conditions to do the "setup" and then being a bit more wreckless later. I did the same thing with all my helicopters...waited for calmer conditions to play with the settings and now, I'm not so afraid of the winds.
The story "The Tortoise and the Hare" comes to mind, lol.

The wind doesn't bother me much either, it's the rain that puts the blockers on things..got through 7 packs yesterday in the wind... Awesome fun

When I was in tarifa with Lee I had to get used to wind there Derek. Was great fun, so I don't let it put me off now...

Well, then....I'll just have to put on my "big-boy pants" and start flying my little quad. "Throw caution to the wind", so to speak, lol

Yeah, I'm a pretty good pilot and getting better each time I'm out. I'm just a "creature of habit" and I just prefer to do the "set up" in calmer conditions. I have no doubt that my quad can handle some wind. Today's wind was excessive though...40mph gusts. That's not even enjoyable to be out in, lol.

I love flying in the wing it makes things a whole lot more interesting and helps hone precision skills, ive flown in 30mph gust and the only time i really noticed was on the down wind legs, lol ultra fast.

I just ended up blasting up and down the field practicing hard stops, great fun Derek. I had to put about 20 degrees pitch on the fpv camera to make headway, which made landing very interesting to say the least.
Don't fear the wind embrace it, but take plenty of props.

I agree with Dan, it's awesome in the wind, you can have a hell of a tilt on it just to keep it in the same place..... So get out there D. And give it a go, you'll love it...

Despite all the comments to the contrary Derek I think you are doing the right thing to wait for a calmer day.
Once you have a few FPV flights under your belt the wind will not be so much of an issue.

I'm not really concerned about flying in the wind. I had several fpv flights last year and I had a blast. I was just wanting to wait for a calmer day to fly my quad because it's still not fully set up in the Naze board.
This weekend is looking to be pretty decent. Rain on Saturday but decent on Friday and Sunday. I'll mess with it as much as I can then.
I'm still a bit unsure as to what I'll be adjusting when it comes time for adjustment in the pid settings. An I adjusting the Level or the Roll or what.
