RC-Hangout

Ken's job has him driving and flying to various locations around the Eastern USA. This week, his job has brought him to my hometown. Ken called me today and we made arrangements to meet at my house and then we were going to go flying a bit before the sun went down. Unfortunately, the rain showed up, too, lol. However, Ken will be in town til Friday. I've taken a vacation day at work on Thursday, so I'll have a 4 day weekend. We are going to meet up on Thursday when he's done working and go drain some lipo's. If I remember right, he said that he has his Trex 450 and his Visionaire. Very cool! Since I'm not working Thursday, I'll be sure to have some packs charged up. I'll show him my mini quad, my Trex 600, and probably my Blue Cub STOL.

I'll post some pictures and video of our "get together" either Thursday night or Friday.

Ken and I have met once before at IRCHA two years ago. It will be a real treat to see him fly in person.

Cool beans! Take some vid. Try not to burn the bar down after the flying.

Awesome! Take a Hangout portrait! Post both of ur ugly mugs kiss'n or something... Lol.. Wish we could all meet up for a fun fly or something... If anyone is every in Ga.. Definitly let me know.... That's awesome guys!

The only thing that I can promise is some flight video. I've got my video camera on the charger already.

I dunno how I can get a pic of both of us if I'm the one taking the pic, lol.

Fantastic Derek... No excuse for not taking pic of you both..... Fly FPV. Or fly quad nose in with mobius on... That's what Lee and I done, and Dan got us when he flew fpv.

Derek, can't you get some stranger of the street and asked them to take your pics? Just a thought? Either way amigo have fun and be safe.

I imagine I can do some FPV and have the quad pointed at us, lol.

I'll do what I can to get a pic of us and the models flown. Ken and I meant to get together last year and fly but it just never worked out. We'll get that opportunity on Thursday. I'm looking forward to seeing his Visionaire with my own eyes. It's an awesome plane.

As of right now, it's suppose to be near 85 degrees F, 20% chance of rain, sunny with a few clouds, and winds 10-15mph. Sounds like an awesome day is coming. Ken is a real cool dude and I think we're gonna have some fun.

Ken and I did hang out today and fly, as scheduled. It was a gorgeous day! He brought his Visionaire and his Trex 500 Pro DFC. I took my mini quad, Blue Cub STOL, EA Delta Wing, Trex 450, 500, and 600. I did take my video camera and we got a few flights recorded but we both just forgot that we had the camera so only a few flights were recorded. I think we got the first flight of Ken's Visionaire and my Blue Cub STOL. My Mobius did record my FPV quad flight but that was all that we got. We were just having a lot of fun laughing it up and showing off for each other. I gotta say....Ken is one hell of a flyer!!! His first flight with the Visionaire was amazing. Fast and full of maneuvers and then he had his best landing ever. It was so smooth and I did get that on video. I flew my EA Delta Wing but it's so small, I didn't bother recording it. I flew my Blue Cub and Ken was really impressed with it. I had my first ever grass landing today. We got that on video. The grass landing wasn't my smoothest landing ever but nothing broke. Very cool! Ken flew his Trex 500 Pro DFC. Wow! This dude has some skills...no doubt! It was awesome. He did a very long inverted flyby from the left to the right and he was flipping and flopping and rolling. Very cool flight. No video on that nor the rest. Sorry guys. I flew my 450 Pro DFC but it was a short flight because the tail was acting up. I'll have to look into that. I fired up my 600 Pro DFC.....full battery blade farts are awesome, lol. It was a great flight! I set up my mini quad with FPV and had a fun fly around the area. Solid video the entire flight and I was having fun. I surely need to tilt the FPV camera up some more though. We even had a spectator come over and he was super friendly. He asked questions and I offered to have him put on my Fatsharks and I'd give him a ride around the field. He agreed. I set it all up, took him for a flight. After I landed, he took the goggles off and he was all smiles, lol. That was cool!!! Ken decided to take his Visionaire up again. I have to say it again...this dude has skills. Unfortunately, something happened and he crashed the Visionaire. I didn't see the crash because I was tending to my daughter. Both wings are destroyed and the nose is very messed up. Really a bummer!

I'll post the flight videos that we did get tomorrow.

Ken...thanks a lot for letting me know you were in town. I had an absolute blast hanging out with you and getting some flying done on such an awesome day.

Sounds like a great RC Hangout Event! Really wish we could all meet up at a clubs or something.. Aweso guys!

Yeah man! I believe that Ken and I had a great time. I think we were both impressed with each other. Ken is more aggressive with the sticks than I am but he's a great flyer. I'm more soft and gentle on the stick but I had several great flights. Ken complimented me greatly.

Yes I have seen him fly at the barnstormers airfield he is a very good pilot it is a shame to hear about the visionaire he has had that plane for awhile

I was holding my daughter when the Visionaire went down. It was an impressive "thud" and then I turn to hear Ken say, "I crashed it!". Really a bummer because he was really tearing up the skies.

It was a great day with a bum ending. All part of flying. I may not rebuild the visionAire for a while. Actually looking at the Carbon Z Yak 54 about the same size but 4s power. If not that plane I'll go for the visionAire with night flight capabilities. Still out of town seeing my grandkids at a t-ball game. My son is just home from college. Have a 5 hour drive home this afternoon. Flying to Philadelphia tomorrow night. May look at planes tomorrow morning. Busy, busy, busy.

Due to the poor installation of our sub contractor in Fort Wayne I'll have to come back the week of May 18th. I'll be in touch.
