Using Go Pro for Video out. Warning!!

I decide to try my Go Pro as the main FPV camera, instead of the separate CCTV cam.
I bought this cable.

The usb plug was a very loose fit in the go pro. And the instruction were no existent.
Well I got it to work, but wasn't happy with the dodgy connector.
I was right.
Last week, my Gopro stopped mounting to my PC for uploading my videos, and today it has stopped charging
So I have a dead Go pro until I can get it fixed or warranted.

The same thing happened to my sj4000. So I purchased an external charger (at came with a extra battery) and I take the memory card out to upload videos to my pc.

My cable got pulled a few times when ive knocked it off the desk while charging (i need a bigger desk). i dont think thats helped my cause.
The batteries seem to have more life when i charge them in the external charger that when the usb is plugged in the camera.

There just a normal micro usb fitting you can get them on fleabay. It's not a job that I would tackle the contacts that need to be soldered are tiny.
