Tony's flight log
This is going to be my general flying around log, later I'll do a new log where I'm going to learn to fly this dam helicopter starting from basic orientation..
Today I went out with 5 brand new lipos, all charged ready to go. Set the timer to 4 minutes in the tx just to run them in gently... Sun is shing, perfect day. Or so I thought
No video unfortunately as I was going to just mess about with the first 4 packs then video the last one.
First pack went great, love flying this mongrel of a heli, it looks awesome when it's 20-30 feet in the air..
I adjusted the swash last night as pirouettes were crap yesterday, today they are spot on...
Blade tracking still an issue, just can't get them right.. I'm going to buy some align CF blades today, or something better than these things..
Anyway, second pack and after 2 minutes or so, the wind started howling. Heli was about 40 feet in the air right at the peak of a stall turn, whipped it around to come back down and the wind caught hold of it.. Seriously thought I was going to loose it again... Being at the peak of a stall turn meant there was obviously no momentum at all in it, so the wind just took over... Anyway I just panicked as I do... Gave it full throttle, it's now nose down coming towards me vertical. Something you guys probably do daily, but I tell you, my pants suffered, heart pounding Haha.. Pulled back on cyclic and managed to recover it... My god, that was absolutely terrifying...
Well after this episode I decided to call it a day... Wish I'd video'd that though, told the mrs to stay in car and watch till I was ready for vid... She was freezing bless her..

Tony make sure your swash is 100% level and if your dfc arms are both exactly the same length if the swash is a tiny bit out it can show as blade tracking on the dfc heads, it happened to me on my 450 when I done mine first time around,

Re: Tony's flight log
thanks Kev, it was a panic save to say the least Kev.... but it came home in one piece...lol
im just getting my digital calipers out now to check both arms are spot on the same. checked the swash yesterday and im pretty sure thats spot on at moment. on the Vbar software it tells you to fold blades to 90 degrees of rotor head and if they meet exactly then the swash is level. done this then turned the head a few times and the blades stayed perfectly lined up.
ok, just checked. with motor wires disconnected, in IU mode (pitch linear 0-100) throttle at 50% one arm set to 0 degrees of pitch, measuring from swash to grip arm i had 1.2mm difference, so ive turned the link on one, one full turn. now i have 0.3mm difference... so basically i have one DFC arm 0.3mm longer than the other.... best i can get.....hopefully this will do the trick. ill try it in morning in the garden... if its still not right then its new blades..

Oh and glad you had a good day flying, had to put up a greenhouse this morning and was too gusty this afternoon for my 250, especially when I dont 100% know how it's gonna handle,

video is a bit shaky but its another one of those disabilities i have to add to the rest...lol
motor does bog down a bit, definitely need to invest in another one... need MORE horses..
you can see tracking is spot on now... cheers Kev, that 1.2mm made ALL the difference
