It seems kind of strange that a small microlight aircraft, the type that kills multiple people every year does not need registration yet RC aircraft with an almost impeccable safety record must be registered.

Done, not that I expect it to result in anything. They're willing to ignore the AMA and it's 180k+ members and thousands of submitted comments under the normal comment process. 2400 people signing some online petition ain't going to result in anything, unfortunately.

That's my point, they don't have to. And those comments they do have to consider legally are either being ignored or dismissed.
