Does this annoy anyone else?

Looks like a nice web site, right? I agree, it does. So what do I find annoying?

The fact it looks like a single screen page. I do not intuitively understand it is scrollable, that there is more content below this. Even on my desktop browser with a scrollbar over there on the right it is not intuitive to me. I don't look at the scroll bar as a primary information source, it is background clutter to me until I want to use it or I'm in the act of scrolling and then use it as a gauge for how far down the page I am. I see this page (and all the rest like it, a seemingly recent design philosophy on the net, likely brought on by single screen apps and tablet/touch based interfaces and browsing) and I think I need to click on the links along the top or find links in the content as presented in the main part of the screen in order to move on to something I want to find. I always start clicking around trying to find what I want (a general description of the site, the product, whatever) before I end up back at this main page and realize I need to scroll down to see what I'm after.

Just a pet peeve I'm developing. :)

I thought single page sites had all the sections hidden except the main section until a link is clicked. Then the main content hides and the want info appears in its place. Yes this would get very annoying because that main section infers that it is a main page and not main content with more following below. Not very user friendly i think.

In single page apps, yes you're right. Sometimes they have other pages already set to go and switching between them is quick and easy, other times they are dynamically generated without inducing any browser page change events. Regardless, in a single page app there is no scrolling of the window, the content fits on the screen (so long as you haven't zoomed it or something like that).
This new web page design ethos of having large "banners" at the top that take up all or nearly all the screen and present as a full page of content unto themselves, despite there being more content to scroll to below it, creates an intuitive experience to my way of thinking. If you want to do that, fine, but have something at the bottom that gives some indication that there is more content. A gradient visual cue. Something...

How bout the side scrolled style. You want the page to scroll down but it scrolls right. I dont think style lasted long.

I've seen that on certain devices for apps and games, like XboxOne. But I don't think I've seen that on a web site. Yeah, that would be hugely annoying.

It was on regular desktop sites. It was a pain and a real brief fad in design. Gee I wounder why it died, .
