Well today will be forever know as Black Friday, and not for a good reason.
We first tried to fly Tony's Helcopter. During spool up it was shaking badly. I checked the head, and the feather shaft screws were almost out :o
More locktite need :D

Then the big disaster. I crashed my Goblin, for the first time.
Tail first into the ground
Tail boom came off as its suppose to, but as I was inverted going backwards, it flicked up into the blades and was cut in two.
Damage as far as I can see so far is:
New Main blades
New boom and belt
New links
New tail pitch slider
New main gear
New tail pitch rod
And probably a few smaller items.
The Canopy had one side cut off, but that I can repair although its not going to look pristine, so I will get a new one for show, and use this one for flying.
Its going to be at least a couple of month before I can afford to fix it, If, I get this job in Jan.

So after that we flew the quads. Tony was flying well, until the battery fell out :o
He couldn't control it, so i took over, go it stable, but when I tried to decend, it lost all stability.
Crashed into a tree, so only one blade broken.

Came back this evening after charging for some more quad action on the beach.
Everything went well.
Tried to fly Tony's heli again but this time found a head link was loose and the tracking was out by a half inch :D
So I think a full check over is need to before we try again LOL :D

Well a bad days flying was made better by Tony's wife Christine, making us a nice British Christmas dinner in the camper. :)
We'll be setting up the FPV gear tomorrow, lets hope it all goes well.

Ouch. I feel your pain. Put my Gob500 in in a very similar way last weekend. I got away a little cheaper (not that my order for parts reflected it :) ).

It was certainly heart breaking to see the gobby go down, Lee's piloting skills were totally awesome to watch prior to that. Here's hoping today goes a bit better than yesterday.

So Tony, you are about to get your first taste of FPV. :)
Good luck mate, I reckon you are gonna be hooked.
I just can't get enough, no vids lately as I have just been flying around home.
Got in a heap of rolls and a flip or 2 this evening, video was junk due to low light but I will get some up again soon. :)

Your right there mate, fpv is fantastic, much better than flying helis... Lol, love this little quad Lee built for me... Going to take a while to get used to fpv, Lee has to keep me right otherwise I'd be in Africa... Lol

We had a great day today.
Tony is hooked on quads now, and had a good go at FPV.
To be fair it was pretty windy to have a first experience. It did get away from him a couple of times, but he did really well.
I sat with my goggles on, observing his flights, and giving a little help here and there.
Apart from a couple of minor crashes, two props, and a close shave with the tops of our heads LOL :D He did a fantastic job.
He even got the courage to fly under a small bridge. LOS not FPV, but it looks good on film.
Got loads of stuff to edit, so hold tight and well get a video up soon.

That's really fantastic guys! Despite the Goblin damage, it sounds like you two are having a great time.

I'm not sure that I can say that FPV is better than flying heli's (my personal opinion) but FPV sure is an awesome avenue of the hobby!!!

Yes it was a great day Lee, and I'm learning a lot of new stuff thanks to you... The wind is picking up here now on the beach so I'm not sure about flying tomorrow, have to wait and see I guess..

Been out on the beach this morn, got through 4 packs so far with the quad, brilliant flying in the wind. Must be gusting 30-40 mph and the quad still flies.. Brilliant little machine Lee has built for me... I need another 10 packs now...lol

Thanks Dan, yep it's fun ok. Lee working at the moment so it's solo flying....lol
