Headlights on my quad

Post by Tony »

After seeing one of Kevs vids and those white leds on the front I've decided to follow suit. So easy to see orientation with those..

I bought some led side lights for the jag but there not bright enough, so I've got them on quad now..Ive ordered some blue ones for the back as I don't like these strip leds I've got on, look so messy..

Thanks for the idea Kev

Here they are.

They don't have any marking on them to tell which is positive or negative, so I straightened the pins and connected then to a 3S lipo,

Then I marked each positive wire with a marker pen.

Next I soldered appropriately coloured wires on

Then used some heat shrink tubing to protect them

Used some CA glue to stick them to underside of motor arms

Then soldered the wires to the distribution board, and now I have headlights on my quad.. Simplz.

WORD OF WARNING

these leds are for a car and therefore rated at 12 volts ONLY, please DO NOT use with lipos greater than 3S

Great lights. I have a local shop sells all sorts of LED clusters. I will be putting more on mine too.

That shop you took me to sells everything imaginable...lol, I've ordered the same ones in blue for rear lights. Hate those led strips on the back, so untidy, but functional

Derek you already have the radio and FPV gear and with the other aircraft you have it would not surprise me at all if you had a few 1500 or 1800 3s batteries lying around.
You are waaay past half way there.
You could probably find a kit for around $120.
