Flight Modes on Naze 32 & DX6i

Post by Graham Lawrie »

Getting ready to move on to Angle mode so checked my Naze32 on Baseflight which is virtually identical to Cleanflight.

When i connected the Naze to Baseflight, it would appear i have been in Angle mode and not Horizon as i thought, did not tick the boxes correctly.
The problem is the DX6i is a two position switch not three.

When i am on Baseflight i flip Gear/F Mode switch and i can see Aux 1 move from Low to High. I am assuming this is normal mode to IU? Providing i have ticked Horizon in Low and Angle in High this is what i will get?

DOH!! Tried a flight with the new settings as above post:) What a donkey i am!! :) I have been Hovering and flying in Angle Mode and when i flicked the Gear/Flight switch all i was doing was putting the buzzer on:)

I must have saved without ticking Horizon:(

So ticked Horizon and beeper for position . And Angle for IU:)

Hovered in the garden in Horizon , almost hands off and stable!!

Brilliant Graham, all good info... So what would the 6th channel be used for on the Naze then?

Horizon and angle mode are the same until you start getting extreme with the sticks.
Horizon removes the 50 degree limitation and allows you to do flips and rolls.
As soon as you let go the sticks it goes back to level.

I use 8 channels through PPM.
The first four are the usual AETR
5 is flight mode, although I only use acro and have angle for emergency.
6 is beeper although I could put this on 5 and have a spare channel.
7+8 are set up for inflight adjustment of PIDs on cleanflight.
One 3 pos switch for selecting P, I or D
Another 3 position switch to adjust up or down.
Love my Taranis with multiple programmable 3 pos switches.

Confused now Stambo?:)

I thought Horizon was the one that goes back to level and Angle was the one that let you do flips and rolls?

No Graham

Angle is limited auto level mode

Horizon is unlimited auto level mode, I did find to me it felt mode loose than angle even at small stick movements,

Acro, this is horizon and angle not activated, which then allows it to default to acro, and is full movement and full rates, so flips rolls and wild times, or you can call it ride em cowboy mode,

It will only let you go to a set amount of degrees tilt,

Angle stops you tilting any more than 50 deg on any axis.
Horizon does the same until you get past half stick deflection, then it let's you flip, roll etc.
As soon as you let the stick go it turns back to level.
Acro is free for all, let the sticks go and it should stop where you left it if the I gain is right.
This is what you should all be looking toward if you fly FPV.
Lean forward a little and let the stick go and it's like cruise control.
Makes your flight and your video much smoother.
